Farm theft brings arrests :

The Windham County Sheriff's Department has completed it's investigation of the Riverdale Farm theft in Townshend with several arrests.  Steven Streeter 18 of Brattleboro has been charged with Burglary, False Information to a Police Officer, Grand Larceny, and Animal Cruelty.  Corwin McAllister , Jr. 18 of Newfane was also charged with Animal Cruelty and Petit Larceny.  A juvenile from Brattleboro was charged with Animal Cruelty and Petit Larceny.  All were cited to appear in court at a later date. 

Man charged with Disorderly Conduct :

A Bellows Falls man has been charged with disorderly conduct after an incident that occurred on April 8th at the Bellows Falls Union High School involving a student. Scott Falzo, 46, was issued a citation to appear in Vermont District Court on May 18th, to answer to the charge of disorderly conduct.

Woman arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license :

On March 19, 2010, Amanda Sanderson, 28, of Bellows Falls, VT was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff's Department in Putney, VT for operating a motor vehicle while having a criminally suspended license. Sanderson was arrested and transported to the Sheriff's Department in Newfane where she was processed. Sanderson will appear at the Windham County District Court at a later date.

Farm Animal Theft :

Sometime after 08:00pm on Saturday,March 20, several farm animals were stolen from Riverdale Farm's barn in Townshend. Several horses and goats were let out of their stalls but were still on the property in the morning. Missing was "Hershey" a miniature stallion, 25 chickens, and a 20 pound Flemish rabbit. On Monday night the miniature stallion was recovered in Marlboro. The rabbit was recovered on Tuesday morning. Four chickens were also recovered on Sunday morning. Sheriff's Dept. is still investigating several leads and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Deputy Rod Inman

Motor vehicle crash results in a DUI :

Richard F. Taft Jr, 48, of Newfane VT, was arrested Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 for DUI and negligent operation. The Windham County Sheriff's Department responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on Route 30 at the Dummerston/Newfane town line. Taft, who was traveling northbound, collided with another northbound vehicle. He was injured and transported the the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. No one was treated for injuries from the second vehicle. Taft will appear at the Windham District Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
