Woman arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license :

On the morning of July 21, 2010, Melissa Atwood, age 19, was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff's Department for having a windshield obstruction during operation of her vehicle. A record check revealed Atwood's license to be under criminal suspension. Atwood was arrested and taken to the Windham County Sheriff's Department where she was processed and cited to appear at the Windham District Court on a later date.

On the afternoon of July 15, 2010, John Nichols, age 40, was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff's Department in Putney for operating a vehicle without valid Vermont inspection. Subsequent to the stop Nichols license was found to be criminally suspended. Nichols was cited to appear at the Windham District Court on a later date.

Man arrested for driving with suspended license :

Mathyou R.Bador, 21, of Westminster was arrested on July 15, for driving with a suspended license on Rt. 121 in Gageville. Bador was arrested and cited to appear at Windham District Court at a later date.

Car stop leads to underage drinking investigation :

John M. Petrino, 19, of Stratford CT and Daniel Matthews, 21, of Hanover NH, were charged July 15th, 2010, for Enabling Consumption of Alcohol by Minors. The Windham County Sheriff's Department stopped Petrino's vehicle on Route 5 in Dummerston for several motor vehicle violations. Investigation revealed that all occupants of the vehicle had consumed alcohol. Two females and Petrino were given civil violations for consuming alcohol under the age of 21. Petrino was issued a civil violation for driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) in excess of .02% as well. Petrino and Matthews will appear in Windham District Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

Unlawful Mischief :

Over the past six months there have been two separate occasions of unlawful mischief at a residence on Bellows Falls Road in Putney. Both incidents were similar in that they involved the shattering of vehicle windows with either a pellet or BB gun. Anyone with information on either of these incidents is strongly encouraged to call Deputy Melissa Martin at the Windham County Sheriff's Department. 802-365-4942
