The Windham County Sheriff's Department, through grants and contracts, has been able to create and institute the use of School Resource Officers within our local community. The SRO concept is designed to allow law enforcement officers, school administrators and safety/security personnel to work as partners to protect students, faculty and staff while in attendance.
Through a collaborative effort by our Deputies, teachers, parents, students and the community, SRO's are able to offer educational programs that'll help reduce violence, drug abuse and crime -- offering a safe learning environment for students.
Currently, the Windham County Sheriff's Department has a SRO at the Brattleboro Union High School, and at the Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend.
