The Windham County
Sheriff's Department, through the use of grants,
has been able to create and institute the use
of School Resource Officers within our local community.
The SRO Concept is designed to allow law enforcement
officers, school administrators and safety/security
personnel to work as partners to protect students,
faculty and staff while in attendance.
Through a collaborative effort by our Deputies,
teachers, parents, students and the community,
SRO's are able to offer educational programs that'll
help reduce violence, drug abuse and crime --
offering a safe learning environment for students.
Currently, the Windham County Sheriff's Department
has a SRO at the Windham Regional Career Center
in Brattleboro as well as the Bellows Falls Union
High School in Westminster. There is currently
a vacant SRO position at Leland & Gray High
School in Townshend.
